A BIT ABOUT US

An extension of the University of British Columbia’s Transcending Boundaries group, BaM was created with the desire to cultivate a group of students who were interested in interdisciplinary research spanning both the arts and sciences. A growing body of research has suggested the significant clinical implications of many art forms, such as music, towards improving brain health. As scientists and artists, this avenue of research is incredibly exciting and pushes our group to find ways to stay involved in the ongoing cutting-edge research. Supported by top-tier faculty and researchers in UBC’s School of Music and Faculty of Medicine, BaM’s mission is to approach music and brain research through many lenses, integrating an interdisciplinary model to bridge the gap between music and science.
